In the TV programme “Round Table” on RTV Budva, psychologist and coordinator of the Shelter for Women and Children Victims of Domestic Violence Lea, Anđela Jukić, spoke about femicide, violence against women, and the challenges women face when they decide to seek help and leave an abusive environment.
From the perspective of her daily work with shelter users, she particularly highlighted the importance of safety, professional support, timely intervention, and coordinated action by institutions and civil society organisations. The discussion also addressed the issue of social responsibility, the need for prevention and education, as well as the importance of creating a system in which women can have confidence to report violence and receive adequate protection.
Anđela emphasised that the fight against violence cannot be the responsibility of a single institution or organisation. Instead, it requires joint and continuous action by society as a whole, in order to recognise violence in time, prevent its escalation, and ensure the safety of women and children.
