The Centre for Women’s Rights Podgorica, in cooperation with NGO “Lea” Bar, organized a screening of the documentary film “Lavanda” by Mateja Raičković at the House of Olives in Bar.
Through a personal experience, the film addresses important issues of sexual violence in intimate relationships, years of silence, feelings of guilt, and the process of healing.
The screening was followed by an open discussion on consent, personal boundaries, trauma, support, and the responsibility of the community in preventing and recognizing violence. Particular emphasis was placed on the fact that sexual violence in intimate relationships remains a taboo topic, while victims often feel guilty or fail to recognize what they have experienced as violence.
The event was attended by high school students, education professionals, as well as representatives of institutions and civil society.
The screening and the discussion that followed sent a strong message about the importance of breaking taboos, providing support to survivors of violence, and creating safe spaces for open dialogue without judgment or stigmatization.
The gathering once again highlighted the importance of empathy, understanding, trust, and solidarity in the healing process, as well as the responsibility of the entire community to recognize and prevent violence.
