The Charter on Social Cohesion of the Municipality of Bar was developed through a participatory process implemented by the Municipality of Bar and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), within the framework of the programme “Together for the Common Good – Strengthening Citizens’ Trust and Building Resilient Communities,” with the support of the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund. The programme is implemented by UNDP, UNICEF and UNESCO in partnership with the Government of Montenegro.
As part of this process, NGO Lea played an active role, participating in the local dialogue on social cohesion and contributing to identifying the needs and challenges faced by the local community. The organisation made a particular contribution through the development and implementation of the “eTolerancija” initiative, which was recognised as one of four initiatives from Bar supported through the Innovation Lab for Social Cohesion.
Through the “eTolerancija” project, the organisation worked to create a safer and more supportive online environment, promote tolerance, dialogue and understanding, and prevent and address cyber violence and harmful online content. The initiative emerged from needs identified by citizens during the local dialogue process, with the aim of contributing to a more tolerant, safer and more connected society.
Executive Director Emilija Jukić also spoke at the National Dialogue on Social Cohesion, where she highlighted the importance of active citizen participation in creating positive change within the community, as well as the need to address violence through knowledge, empathy and solidarity.
Through its partnership with UNDP and the Municipality of Bar, NGO Lea continues to contribute to translating the values of social cohesion into concrete activities and solutions that respond to the real needs of the local community.
