The NGO “Lea”, in cooperation with the Secretariat for Sports and Youth of the Municipality of Bar, successfully implemented the free two-week programme “Parents in Support – Prevention of Risky Adolescent Behaviour”, aimed at parents and families facing the challenges of adolescent development.

The programme opened with a lecture entitled “Recognising Signs of Risky Behaviour and Drug Abuse Among Adolescents”, held on 7 February at Hotel Princess in Bar. The lecture was delivered by Dr Branka Purlija, a psychiatrist with decades of professional experience, who spoke about recognising risky behavioural patterns, preventing the abuse of psychoactive substances, as well as the importance of supportive communication and emotional support for young people.

The second part of the programme was held on 15 February and focused on the topic “Strategies for Supporting Adolescents and Families Who Have Experienced Violence.” Particular emphasis was placed on parents’ emotional resilience, ways of providing support to adolescents, and available resources for assisting families who have experienced violence.

The programme was developed in response to the need to provide parents with knowledge, practical advice and support to enable them to recognise problems in a timely manner and respond appropriately. Support for families who have experienced violence is particularly important, as exposure to violence can further affect the emotional vulnerability of both children and parents.

Through this activity, the NGO “Lea” continues to contribute to violence prevention, strengthening families, and creating a safer and healthier environment for children and young people to grow up in, with the message that timely information, open communication and support can play a key role in preventing risky behaviour.
